Why all the Fuss?

Why all the Fuss?

Don’t overlook your pain, no matter how small.  Back and neck pain are subjective which means you have to tell me what you pain feels like.  PAIN is important because it tells you…something is wrong.  Covering it up does not help the problem.   When you come to the office we will do definitive tests that can measure and diagnose your pain.  Therefore, it falls on you to communicate your pain symptoms to us.

By accurately noting your pain symptoms, and giving us a clear picture of them, you are taking an important step toward getting diagnosis.  Here are some things to note: Pain intensity and Type of pain.

Pain Intensity

How bad does it hurt?  Pain intensity is a measure of how strong your pain is and these are important to us as only you can tell how much pain you are in.

As a pain sufferer, this is probably the most important part of the ordeal for you.  Intensity levels fluctuate, so it is impossible to get a useful, accurate measurement of them from our testing.  Instead, we use visual assessment tools and sometimes questionnaires to help you communicate our level of pain so we can do everything to help you as fast as we can.

Types of Pain

The types of painful feelings you have in your back or neck are an indication of what is going on in your spine.  This is a very important part of your care.  For example, if you experience burning, stabbing, or electrical sensations down one leg or arm, it probably indicates a very ‘irritated’ nerve.  I know you probably know what a tooth ache feels like, or even someone pinching you, but ALL pain is related to your nervous system.

If your muscles feel stiff or tight you may have pain due to an injury, or posture problems, or both.  Don’t Wait!  Get checked if you have any pain because pain is the last sign there is a problem, not the first.

Chiropractic Does Not Increase Risk of Stroke

Just a short note…

According to a February 2008 report in the journal “Spine”, a new study finds there is NO evidence of excess risk of stroke following chiropractic spinal manipulation. In the study, researchers noted that patients are no more likely to suffer a stroke following chiropractic treatment than they would after visitng their family doctor’s office.

The study goes on to say that any observed association between vertebrobasilar artery (VBA) stroke  and chiropractic manipulation is likely due to patients with an undiagnosed vertebral artery dissection seeking care for neckpain and headache BEFORE their stroke.

Movement

Your body was created to MOVE

Movement is life.

This may sound a bit strange at first, but if you think about it for a moment, the truth of this statement begins to become more and more apparent.
Without movment you could not sustain life: blood cells that don’t move cannot transport oxygen, lungs that don’t move can’t breathe, hearts that don’t move can’t pump blood, and spines that don’t move can’t create the motion required for proper joint nutrition, for the activities of daily living, or for the stimulation of the joint-brain pathways required for proper brain and body function

Sulfur

The following information was writtenby David Wolfe, JD and the full article can be found at www.thebestdayever.com

Sulfur
David Wolfe, JD

After many years of research in the field of raw vegan nutrition, my studies and experience have led me to explore the role and the importance of minerals. Through reading book on health and nutrition, I have discovered that of all the major minerals, sulfur is one of the least researched and most mysterious.

Sulfur is generally considred to be the eigth or mimth most abundant mineral in the human body. The latter three amino acids can be made by the body from methoinine and sulfur-residue foods. Sulfurous amino acids protect us against the effects of radiation and heavy metals.

Arthritis

What Arthritis is and what is not:

This is not such an easy question as it may seem to answer. For the purpose of this blog we will look at it from a swollen joint perspective.

arth: joint
itis: swelling

This class will look at three different perspectives of knowledge which is both thousands of years old, as well as the newest science in the area of joint health and integrity. Being a chiropractor, I deal with joints all day long. We deal with the most highly organized organism in the known universe. And it is entirely encased in bones and joints. That is the Spinal column. If anything interferes with the original divine nerve spark, which emanates from brain tissue to cell tissue, the human body begins to break down. Read more »

Three Tips on How to Help Back Pain Naturally

Back pain treatment costs in the US health Care industry Range from 32 Million to 75 million a year.  Are there easier and less expensive ways of handling back pain?  Tip Number One:  Walk more and sit less.  The muscles of the lowback get very weak from sitting in chairs in a forward position.  Add to that the toilets we sit on and the cars we drive and we are excercising the wrong butt muscles.  Instead make sure you are walking a couple of miles each day with long strides.  Open your step 10-15% more and you will open those stiff hips and loosen the tight low back.

Back pain Tip Number Two:  Drink more spring water.  Yes water is what bathes most of our joints.  If you simply drink half your body weight in ounces of water each and every day you are making those joints squishy and less crunchy.  Think of it like WD40 for the joints.

Back pain Tip Number Three:  Eat food from the planet earth.  What is that?  Yes it has been shown that the Green leafy vegetables are the ones that are healing to the spine.  Wheat Grass Shot any body?  If you consume products such as Coffee or nicotene your chances of haveing Back pain double.

Drug Free Approaches to Arthritis Relief

Are there drug free approaches to relieving the pain of Arthritis? YES! Absoloutly! I just spoke with a gentleman whose arthrits in his lowback and his legs had gotten so bad that he was having trouble just standing up. He was no longer able to get out in the yard and work on his garden. Here are a few of the suggestions that we gave him.

The most important part is that we began adjusting his spine with specific adjustments. Not manipulations but adjustments to joints that are out of place and rubbing on the surrounding tissue and causing inflamation in it. By allowing these joints to move properly he is now moving easier from sitting to standing and spending more time in his yard.

We also started him on a plan of getting intense sunlight on his body for a minimum of ten minutes a day with no sunblock. When the body is exposed to the sun we not only make vitamine D butt also the correct enzymes and minerals to aid the body in healing. This type of healing has been known as heliotherapy. It has been written about in the Essene scrolls.
